Los Gigantes is situated near sheer cliffs, with a small port and a resort town. It survivies on tourism as Las americanas and Los Cristianos, but on a much smaller scale. Beside the resort is Puerto de Santiago, which is equally pleasant, and it has an attractive black sand beach called Playa de la Arena. Among the things to do in this area are diving (the area has 3 diving centres), boat trips for dolphin and whale watching and parascending. There is also Flipper Uno, which is a reproduction of a 18th century large sailing ship, and they do trips daily. Teide National Park situated near Los Gigantes, was founded in 1954 to protect the landscape and ecological of great importance that extends around this volcano.

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary islands. In the south there is sunshine all year round. The north is cooler and damper, with lush foliage. In the centre is Mount Tiede and it's not unusual to have snow on its peak while the sun is splitting the stones in Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas! It is indeed an island of contrasts - but well worth of exploring it.
Los Gigantes is famous for its beautiful Cliffs - Its well worth the walk up hill to El Mirador, a viewing area along with a small bar. The views from here are just superb. The harbour is a lovely place to walk around and see the huge fish. These fish are protected hence no fishing allowed and hence why they are so large!!!! Walking away from Los Gigantes you enter Puerto Santiago, this has a lovely promenade and like Los Gigantes has a beach. The beaches in this area all get the top awards for being clean and maintained. Puerto Santiago again has some lovely restaurants, worth trying the one on the beach.
Walking away from Los Gigantes you enter Puerto Santiago. One can take many different boat trips from Los Gigantes to see the whales-dolphins etc... well worth a trip out to sea.
This area of Tenerife will apeal to those looking for a lovely atmosphere without being rowdy.
Los Gigantes named after 'The Giants', the cliffs which are the backdrop to the village. It is a pretty resort with many flowers and tree and is very well kept.
The resort which is small has a certain atmosphere about it which makes you feel calm and relexed. Unlike many other resorts there is little chance of the resort becoming larger due to it being closed in on all sides. Los Gigantes emains one of the few calmer holiday destinations, which is quite rare on Tenerife.
